In 1995, Thomas Builds-The-Fire, Junior Polatkin, and Victor Joseph, who also appear in Sherman Alexie's short story collection The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven, meet American blues musician Robert Johnson.

The novel follows the story of the rise and fall of a rock and blues band of Spokane Indians from the Spokane Reservation. I definitely recommended reading "Reservation Blues," or any of Alexie's stories for that matter.Reservation Blues is a 1995 novel by American writer Sherman Alexie (Spokane-Coeur d'Alene). But what would happen if everyone threw his/her problems into a pile? Looking at everyone else's problems, we would all pick up our own problems again. It made me think about how we always complain about our own lives and our own problems so much. The problems they faced were real, and their difficulties were real. I found the characters relatable because they were raw and brutally honest. The book doesn't end perfectly when the band is at their peak instead, the book continues on as the band falls apart. "Reservation Blues" covers the rise and fall of a band (Coyote Springs). Instead, it is like a puzzle that is assembled with the utmost care and precision.

The book is not a splatter of disoriented themes haphazardly sewn together. The way Sherman Alexie weaves all these different themes together is amazing. It is also about hardship and struggle, about storytelling and a cursed guitar.

It is about Native Americans, truth, blues music, stereotypes, and magic. I'm not sure what I expected when I first started it, but by the time I was finished, I was left in awe. "Reservation Blues" was a wonderfully refreshing book.
